Adding Scenery to a web site can be demanding on download times.  When using photographic images with a high color content, it is better to use JPEG compression than GIF.  GIF images have a maximum of 256 colors, and only 216 of those colors are web safe (to remain compatible with different browsers).  The 216 palette will dither (mixture of colored dots to simulate a color that cannot be displayed on the computer) when viewed on a computer with 256 Color setting.  Most computers now use at least 16-Bit color (High Quality Setting) and can produce the JPEG image's color content.
